HumasUPNVJ - Deputy Speaker of the MPR Ahmad Basarah said that no nation in the world can become great if it does not have its own national philosophy, so that Pancasila will remain relevant amid the development of digital technology.

"If Pancasila is replaced with another, it is not necessarily suitable. There have been examples of other countries changing their national philosophy, then failing," Basarah said in the Pancasila 2022 Seminar Series 3 The Spirit of Pancasila for the World "Utilization of Digital Technology in Optimizing the People's Economy" which is a collaboration Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University with Kompas TV and BPIP at the Unity in Diversity Auditorium UPNVJ Campus Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, Wednesday (21/9/2022).

Basarah said that if Indonesia wants to become a great nation, it must continue to uphold Pancasila. Pancasila is the philosophy of the Indonesian nation, not the composition or invention of the nation's founders.

"Bung Karno himself refuses to be called the creator of Pancasila. According to Bung Karno, he only explored it because Pancasila has lived in the essence of the Indonesian nation for a long time," he said.

Special Staff for Legal Affairs, Supervision of Cooperatives, and Financing of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Agus Santoso said there was a need for the presence of the state to make populist economic policies in accordance with the philosophy of Pancasila.

According to Agus, there are many micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. In order for their business to be "classed up", the state must be present to make policies that are in favor of the people's economy.

"If business actors are left to try on their own without any support from the state, it will certainly take a long time for them to be able to 'grade up'. Joint effort, that is the principle of Pancasila," he said.

A public figure who is also an MSME actor, Meisya Siregar, admits that she is grateful for the advances in digital technology. According to him, when developing his business first, the market place or marketplace was like it is today.

"We are grateful that now digital technology has made a lot of progress. Businesses can now use e-commerce, the system of which is easy to learn," he said.

Meisya is also assisted by her son in marketing his sales through social media. His son, who provides suggestions for marketing products, utilizes social media content that is easily viral.

"If our budget is minimal, we must be literate in technology. That is the initial capital for doing business," he said.

An example of using digital technology to help MSMEs is eTani, which was founded by the 2019 Pancasila Icon Davyn Sudirdjo. The eTani platform connects farmers with supermarkets so they can get more benefits.

"I founded eTani in 2016. At first I found that farmers were very dependent on middlemen. The distribution chain from farmers to producers was very long, so farmers only received little profit.

Meanwhile, UPNVJ Chancellor Prof. Dr. Erna Hernawati, Ak, CPMA, CA said UPNVJ as the State Defense Campus felt relevant to the Pancasila Seminar. Moreover, if Pancasila is associated with the use of digital technology.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has encouraged massive use of digital technology. Technology can have both positive and negative impacts. Unlimited information accessed using digital technology can shift the nation's noble culture," he said.
