HumasUPNVJ - Master Study Program (S2) in Political Science at the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) is conducting outreach activities to build an election-smart society for national voting in 2024.

Taking place in Tebing Village, Kelapa District, West Bangka Regency on 23-24 May 2023, this socialization activity was carried out as a form of implementing a community service program in collaboration with the Political Science Study Program, University of Bangka Belitung (UBB).

Ardli Johan Kusuma, Chair of the UPNVJ Political Science Masters Study Program and head of the activity implementing team, said that, "This socialization was carried out with the aim of providing education to the community, especially the people in Tebing Village to make them election-smart people."

"We provide knowledge about elections, especially on issues that are a challenge for holding an ideal election, such as money politics, black campaigns, hoaxes, identity politics, and hate speech," he said.

Ranto, the speaker from the UBB team, also called on the people of Tebing Village to become smart voters and not be easily swayed by money politics and hoax issues whose truth has not been verified.

"Tebing Village is one of the villages that has the highest election participation, and has always received awards from the KPU. So, don't fall for money politics and hoaxes," said Ranto.

One of the participants in the socialization activity, Asnen, revealed that, "the people of Tebing Village are very happy to be able to gain knowledge to respond to the 2024 election in order to achieve the ideal election."

Meanwhile Saimi, Head of Tebing Village, appreciated this socialization activity as a form of significant contribution in encouraging the creation of an election-smart society.

"We are flattered by the arrival of guests from UPN Jakarta and UBB. Hopefully, the materials provided by the resource persons can make the Tebing community smart voters for the 2024 election," he said.
