HumasUPNVJ - Jakarta's "Veteran" National Development University held a talk show entitled "Hospital Gathering & Strengthening State Defense Values in the Globalization Era of Digitalization Approaching the Political Year" on Sunday (11/6). This event aims to remind all parties that strengthening the values of defending the country is important for the creation of harmony, peace, unity and oneness, especially in the context of the political year ahead of the 2024 general election.
UPNVJ Chancellor Dr. Anther Venus, MA. Comm emphasized that UPN is a campus founded by fighters and veterans in 1958, which was later established in Jakarta in 1963. In accordance with its mandate and statutes, UPNVJ is a campus with a national defense identity. "So for example, if UPN people cut open their chests, what you can see is the spirit of defending the country," said Venus.
He stressed that UPNVJ continues to be committed to creating an image of defending the country. So far, UPNVJ has made progress of 70-80 percent in finalizing the state defense index. This indexation scheme aims to measure the level and rank of state defense in an institution or region.
According to Venus, defending the country is not just defending national sovereignty by taking up arms in the face of threats. Positive activities, even the simplest ones, such as vehicles queuing in an orderly manner at a red light, or people throwing garbage in its place, are examples of acts of defending the country. "When waste is turned into more meaningful and has added value, it is even more powerful to defend the country," said Venus.
"Defending the country should not be seen as something complicated. Achievements in each respective field are also a form of defending the country," he continued.
Meanwhile, Kamila, SPd, ST, MPd, General Chairperson of the State Defense Activist Component (PKBN), said that the event to strengthen state defense values at UPNVJ was aimed at making the political year safe and conducive, in accordance with the message from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"We hope that this activity, which has been carried out every year since the component of defending the country has moved, will further strengthen ties, both in the educational sphere, the community sphere, and the workforce sphere," said Kamila.
In the last two years, Kamila said that PKBN has continued to be enthusiastic in rekindling the fire of the spirit of defending the country through the implementation of 105 activities. He stressed that this was an illustration of the strong spirit of PKBN.
"We are ready to collaborate, synergize, and are committed to building the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. PKBN does not only collaborate with certain circles, but with all groups and institutions," said Kamila.
