UPNVJ Initiates Collaboration with LVRI to Increase Internationalization of National Defense Values

Public Relations UPNVJ – Being one of the campuses with a national identity, UPN "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) always facilitates its community consisting of lecturers, students and also teaching staff to always receive training in various aspects relating to national defense and citizenship in order to increase nationalist awareness, social obligations, discipline, and knowledge of the Indonesian nation.

Many partners have been invited to collaborate in carrying out this mission. On this occasion, (UPNVJ) initiated collaboration with the Indonesian Veterans Legion (LVRI). Today, the Chancellor along with the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation and the Head of the UPNVJ State Defense Center visited the LVRI Headquarters located in South Jakarta.

This official meeting was intended to further discuss collaboration plans directly with the General Chair of LVRI, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) HBL Mantiri along with his representatives. UPNVJ Chancellor, Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm said that this collaboration was first initiated in order to strengthen the internalization of state defense values within the UPNVJ.

In future plans, UPNVJ wants to provide training and provision to lecturers regarding the values of defending the country itself. Not only that, it is hoped that lecturers can implement these values in teaching and learning activities.

Lecturers who receive training and provision will later be selected and trained again to obtain certification and expertise to become socializers. Socializers have a noble task, namely socializing the values of defending the country to the entire UPNVJ academic community and the local community.

Apart from lecturer training, UPNVJ voiced the need for LVRI involvement in the reconstruction of general courses which is currently underway at UPNVJ. Previously it was known that UPNVJ had been making courses that were closely related to national defense for a long time, for example courses on Pancasila, National Insight, Leadership, etc. However, UPNVJ feels that reconstruction needs to be carried out so that learning can be better. It is hoped that LVRI's involvement will be able to provide UPNVJ with views on things that need or do not need to be added to the general course curriculum.

Lastly, UPNVJ is compiling a State Defense Index. The dimensions of the index have been finalized. Therefore, UPNVJ needs input from LVRI seniors regarding the values of state defense in Indonesia so that they can be considered in the index.

The General Chair of LVRI and his staff responded positively to Venus' presentation. According to Mantiri, this collaboration can be carried out, but it requires a process and caution so as not to change existing traditions at both UPNVJ and LVRI.

Referring to lecturer training, LVRI explained further that basically LVRI trains lecturers generally for six days and socialitators for eight days. Head of the JSN '45 Heritage Department, Major General TNI Mar (Ret.) Nono Sukarno, emphasized that this activity was not only limited to training but also had technical implementation which could be reported to LVRI.

After all points were conveyed from both parties, the audience closed with the presentation of souvenirs from each party and a group photo.
