UPNVJ Faculty Leaders Asked to Prepare Guidelines for Writing Final Assignments Apart from Theses

Public RelationsUPNVJ - The education and training program among faculty leaders at the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta entered its fourth series on Tuesday, November 14 2023. This time, there were three topics of discussion presented by the Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs of UPNVJ Dr. Henry Binsar Hamonangan Sitorus, ST, MT

The three points conveyed were regarding the achievement of Main Performance Indicators (IKU), the Performance Agreement (PK) between the chancellor and the dean, as well as guidelines for writing student final assignments other than theses.

Henry said there were changes to the IKU guidelines in accordance with new regulations through Minister of Education and Culture Decree Number 210 of 2023 concerning Main Performance Indicators for Universities and Higher Education Service Institutions. The calculations in the IKU change, and the achievements also automatically change. UPNVJ leaders were also asked to adapt changes to the IKU formula and guidelines.

The second point concerns the performance agreement between the chancellor and the dean which was signed at the beginning of the year. During the training, UPNVJ leaders were asked to see which performance points had not been achieved.

"The achievements of each faculty are different. There are faculties whose Dean's PK achievement is 100 percent, and there are also those that are still low," said Henry.

"The aim of the training carried out is to identify PKs that have not been achieved and the causes, followed by formulating achievement and follow-up strategies, so that by the end of the year all PKs can be achieved," he continued.

Student Final Assignment

The final point concerns guidelines for writing final assignments other than theses. Henry said that UPNVJ had actually implemented this, even before the regulations came out from the ministry.

According to the Chancellor's regulations at UPNVJ, a student can make a final project other than a thesis in order to graduate.

"UPNVJ has a rector's regulation that regulates final assignments other than theses. The form can be projects or publications. For publications, the minimum is Sinta 3, if internationally, then Scopus Q4," said Henry.

He said that this final assignment is unique in each study program or faculty. For example, at the Faculty of Law, a student's final assignment may be in the form of a Legal Memorandum.

For the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), for example, a student's final project can be in the form of making a documentary film. "The study program itself can think about what form it will take. Later it can be linked to the Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL). The study program decides," said Henry.

In this series of training, Henry said that faculty leaders were encouraged to immediately create guidelines for writing final assignments other than theses, at least in draft form with several points.

The leaders were asked to submit the draft guidelines at the 7th meeting session. "Later we will review it, and if it is good, a decree will be made by each dean," concluded Henry.
