UPNVJ 72nd Graduation Ceremony: Chancellor Encourages Graduates to Become a Competent and Reasonable Generation

Public Relations UPNVJ - Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University held its 72nd Graduation Ceremony at the Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday, April 20 2024. From the number of participants, this UPNVJ graduation was the largest with a total of 1,290 graduates.

Of the total, 14 are graduates of the Diploma Three Program, 1,183 from the Bachelor's Program, 23 from the Master's Program, and 70 from the Professional Program.

UPNVJ Chancellor Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm congratulated the graduates who had successfully completed their studies.

"This is an achievement that is not easy. It requires commitment, perseverance and seriousness to complete all study obligations, including enjoying the dynamics that occur in it," said Venus.

Congratulations were also conveyed to the parents/guardians of the students, both those present and those watching from afar. One noble task of parents' obligation to educate their children has been fulfilled.

According to Venus, students' success in completing their studies is closely related to the contribution of those closest to them, especially parents. "For this reason, it is timely that you now express your thanks to all of them," he said.

Reasoning Capacity

Venus hopes that UPNVJ graduates can add value to the progress of society, nation and state. The graduates are expected to be part of a competent generation capable of filling the demographic bonus and contributing to making Indonesia a developed country in 2045.

According to Venus, the population of productive age at 68 percent will be a driving factor for economic productivity which will become the capital for becoming a developed country.

However, the demographic bonus also has the potential to become a 'disaster' if Indonesia's human resources are not well prepared. The demographic bonus will be dangerous if the Indonesian population has low quality and productivity, is not adaptive to technology, and does not have a patriotic character.

"UPN Veteran Jakarta as a state-owned university is committed to continuing to develop quality education that prioritizes the capacity to reason, be innovative, have an entrepreneurial spirit, have digital literacy, lifelong learning skills, have a growth mindset, and have a spirit defending the country/patriotic," said Venus.

Specifically regarding reasoning, Venus calls this ability the difference between the way "college people" and "men on the street" think.

This is related to the ability to think to produce logical and factual information/conclusions in explaining events or experiences in the real world. The ability to reason will ensure UPNVJ graduates are able to think straight or correct thinking which is a requirement for life today and in the future.

Spirit of Transformation

In 2023, interest from prospective students to enter UPNVJ will reach 74,701 and 4,692 will be accepted or only 6.2% of all D3 and S1 applicants. Apart from that, in terms of quality, UPNVJ is ranked 9th out of the top 10 PTNs with the highest average UTBK score nationally in both the fields of Science and Technology (science and technology) and Social and Humanities (Social Humanities).

"The fact that the quality of UPNVJ students is very good makes us continue to be totally committed to carrying out transformation in various fields, including encouraging students to excel through various competitions, both national and international," said Venus.

Regarding the achievements and improvement efforts currently being carried out by UPNVJ, these include:

1. Increased accreditation of study programs
2. Increase in the number of journals
3. Increasing the quality and quantity of lecturers
4. MBKM and Actualization of National Defense
5. Increasing student capacity and achievement
6. Institutional governance

Finally, Venus reminded the graduates to join the UPNVJ alumni association. With the strength of a network of more than 50 thousand alumni, graduates will benefit from the relationships built.

To ensure connection with UPNVJ, alumni are expected to voluntarily participate in the Alumni Tracer Study by filling in data on the page: tracer.upnvj.ac.id.
