HumasUPNVJ - Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has once again made an achievement, this time in the arts. The Jakarta Veteran Dance Student Activity Unit (STVJ) won the Hope Champion in the Crowd 8.0 National Competition at the Jakarta State University (UNJ) on Friday, November 29, 2024.
In this event, which was also attended by various universities and senior high schools (SMA), Veteran Dance Arts Jakarta performed the Ngahuma Dance from the Baduy Tribe.
On this occasion, Haura as the Chairperson of STVJ explained that his team performed the Ngahuma Dance because it reflects the agrarian life of the Baduy people, especially the activity of growing rice which is an important part of their culture.
"Ngahuma" itself can be interpreted as "farming" in Sundanese, which describes the process of cultivating land for planting.
"With all its uniqueness, the Ngahuma Dance is an important part of the Baduy Tribe's cultural heritage, reflecting a life in harmony with nature, simple, and full of gratitude," said Haura.
"This dance is a new dance performed by the Jakarta Veteran Dance Arts in order to realize the implementation to preserve Indonesian culture," he continued.
Crowd 8.0 National Competition was attended by five representatives from STVJ who were fully supported by the campus.
"In this case, STVJ gets full support from our beloved campus, UPNVJ, which always provides support and prayers so that STVJ can bring extraordinary achievements," said Haura.
"We have high hopes that STVJ can provide even better achievements in the future and can preserve Indonesian culture through traditional dance," he concluded.
