HumasUPNVJ - The Faculty of Medicine, National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a guest lecture on the EMS Block (Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Systemic) with the theme "Role of Physicians in Diagnosis and Management of Diabetes Mellitus in Primary Health Care."
The activity took place online using the zoom meeting platform on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
This guest lecture presents an expert resource person in the field of endocrinology, namely Dr. Dicky Levenus Tahapary, Sp.PD-KEMD, PhD. He is a specialist in internal medicine, consultant in endocrine, metabolic, and diabetes who has extensive experience in treating diabetes mellitus in primary health care.
On this occasion, Dr. Dicky discussed various aspects of diabetes, such as understanding what diabetes is, the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and its prevalence and impact on society.
He also explained various risk factors that can influence the development of diabetes, such as genetic factors, lifestyle, diet, and obesity.
Also discussed are the general symptoms of diabetes sufferers and the correct way to diagnose them using blood sugar tests and other examinations.
With the holding of this guest lecture, FK UPNVJ continues to be committed to providing quality education and preparing competent prospective doctors to face challenges in the medical world, especially in treating non-communicable diseases such as diabetes mellitus.
