UPN "Veteran" Jakarta Assists in Controlling KPI Quality Television Broadcast Programs

Jakarta – Quality broadcast programs from television and radio are mandated by broadcasting regulations in the management of the broadcasting industry. This is because, television and radio broadcasts have the power to influence people's behavior, both socially, culturally and even politically. The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) in 2018 again conducted an audience survey which will provide an assessment of the quality of television broadcast programs present in the community, through the 2018 Television Broadcast Program Quality Index Survey at the Sari Pan Pacific Hotel - Central Jakarta, Monday (12/12/2018). 03/18).

Head of Central KPI Yuliandre Darwis explained, in conducting the survey which has entered its fourth year, KPI is again collaborating with 12 (twelve) tertiary institutions from 12 (twelve) provinces in Indonesia. "With 100 respondents each from each city which is also equipped with an assessment from experts. KPI hopes that the results of this survey will provide a complete portrait of the quality of our television broadcast program," he said.

The implementation of this survey itself, begins with acara_KPI_12_MARET_(3).JPG the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding of the Cooperation Agreement between KPI and 12 tertiary institutions, (12/03). The 12 tertiary institutions are the Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University, University of North Sumatra, Padjadjaran University, Diponegoro University, Andalas University, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Surabaya State University, Tanjung Pura University, Lambung Mangkurat University, Udayana University, Hasanudin University, and Pattimura University.

Yuliandre explained, in carrying out the survey, the research design used was not much different from last year, which was prepared by the Indonesian Communication Scholars Association (ISKI). "This year, the research design has been refined so that the results obtained are also more optimal," said Yuliandre.

KPI further hopes that the results of this survey can be used by all broadcasting stakeholders in contributing to improving the quality of television broadcasts. Yuliandre acknowledged that there was a significant difference between the results of the quality index survey and the existing quantitative audience survey. For this reason, he really hopes that the data obtained by KPI from the results of this survey will also be taken into consideration by advertisers in placing their products on broadcast programs, both in terms of quality. "This is our contribution in maintaining the presence of good broadcast programs, in the community," he concluded.
