HumasUPNVJ - After being successfully held in 2019, the second competition between law faculties throughout Indonesia entitled Veteran Legal Competition (VLC) 2021 was officially opened by the UPN Veteran Jakarta Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Between Venus, MA, Com, today, April 09, 2021.
The competition activity which was held by FH UPNVJ was carried out online with the first activity being a public discussion which was attended by Dr. Diani Sandiawati, SH, LLM as the expert staff of the Minister of PPN in the field of institutional relations, Dr. Sapto Hermawan as a senior lecturer at FH UNS, and Grita Anindarini SH, LLM, from the Indonesia Center for Environmental Law . The participants in the research competition and debate competition totaled 21 teams from various universities in Indonesia.
In his remarks, the vice chancellor for academics expressed his salute to the committee and the management of the Faculty of Law who remained committed to holding this activity despite the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Dr. Antar Venus in his speech also stated that UPNVJ is seriously building a strong academic culture based on the university's traditional values. According to him, there are 14 basic traditional university values that apply throughout the world which are called The Fourteen Traditional Values of University which include the values of critical thinking, critics, disputation and exhaustive inquiry.
This VLC activity which contains research and debate is in accordance with the scientific spirit and academic values above. In this research and debate competition, the values of critical thinking or critical thinking, for example, appear in the behavior of questioning or questioning various concepts, ideas or legal practices that taken for granted. Likewise in this kind of scientific debate, the value of disputation will also be seen to be applied when we try to juxtapose various different or even contradictory ideas for the most correct views or ideas with all the supporting arguments. In this competition, continued Venus, exhaustive inquiries can be fulfilled due to the emergence of various ideas/opinions that have been studied in depth, comprehensively and thoroughly.
