HumasUPNVJ - President Jokowi and Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto have officially appointed approximately 3,000 members of the Komcad (Reserve Component) of the TNI on October 7, 2021, including 14 students and 6 education staff from the State Defense Campus, Jakarta Veterans National Development University.

First we have to know what Komcad is, Komcad is a military reserve force or a military organization consisting of citizens who combine military with civilian careers. A reserve component to fight against when a country is to mobilize for total war or to defend itself from invasion. Generally not considered as part of a permanent body. The existence of a reserve component allows a country to reduce its military budget in peacetime and prepare for war. Some countries have reserve components as part of the national defense system. In general, the functions of reserve components are mobilization and demobilization functions. The UPNVJ Public Relations Team conducted live interviews in the form of a podcast with representatives of the UPNVJ Komcad soldiers, Triyono (student) and Imam (trainee) who took place at the UPNVJ Social Sciences Radio Lab, Gd. Moh. Yamin Lt. 4 while adhering to health protocols. (12/10)

In the podcast Triyono and Imam share many experiences, including regarding the initial registration of the komcad they took part in, the basic training they received, the challenges they faced up to the ups and downs while attending the komcad military education located in Rindam East Jakarta for the period June - October 2021 .

"In the registration process, we follow several stages, including administration, health, physical training and psychological tests. This process is quite a long process, because before being declared passed at the initial stage, we are kept in quarantine for approximately two weeks to take part in the physical assessment. After going through a fairly strict registration stage, soldiers who qualify will take part in a lot of basic training such as marching, basic shooting exercises, military ceremonies, survival in the forest and several other military trainings.” Triyono explained

Complementing Triyono's explanation, Imam also shared his ups and downs while attending this latsarmil, “There are many things that can be learned while we are there, joys and sorrows of course become one. For joy, we got a lot of knowledge and training that we never had before. There are lots of tips and tricks in every physical exercise that is taught, the example that we remember the most, such as when running, you should keep your voice (while singing) to train your breathing and also your voice. Apart from joy, sorrow also did not escape our journey, for about four months we were far from our family, unable to communicate as usual, this is quite sad, but things like this are not an obstacle for us to be able to focus on training and studying, continued Imam

"There is one thing that we remember the most when we miss home from our coach, three important points in undergoing this latsarmil, namely the first is enthusiasm, the second is enthusiasm and the third is also enthusiasm," he concluded

In this conversation, Triyono and Imam also explained their reasons for joining latsarmil komcad, which is that apart from trying new things, the most important reason is the love for the motherland to strengthen the defense of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
