Dr. dr. UPNVJ FK Lecturer Basuki Holds Mass Circumcision Using the Smartclamp Method

UPN Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) Faculty of Medicine (FK) Lecturer dr. Basuki Supartono, Sp OT in collaboration with Al Fauzan Hospital in collaboration with the Mandiri Amal Insani Foundation (MAI) held a community service activity in the form of a mass circumcision of 120 people, on Thursday (16/12). This free circumcision is assisted by volunteers from the Indonesian Red Crescent (BSMI).

Reporting from REPUBLIKA.CO.ID Basuki who is a circumcision supervisor said mass circumcision as part of community service obligations this time used the Smartclamp method. Basuki said the smartclamp method uses tools such as clamps with quality, strong and safe materials. Circumcision with a smartclamp does not need stitches because the tool can stop bleeding.

In addition, both doctors, nurses, children, and companions have all been vaccinated against Covid19

"Today it is under the monitoring of medical personnel both before, during and after the procedure. The smartclamp method is more comfortable for children. This is one of the advantages of the circumcision method with the smartclamp, in addition to other advantages," said Basuki.

He said apart from being safe and comfortable, there was no bleeding, the circumcision process went much faster. "There are no stitches or wound dressings so as to minimize the risk of complications. In addition, the risk of infection is low and there is no special treatment so that children can immediately wear pants and activities," he said.

Basuki added, this mass circumcision was held with high health protocols. All officers and children who are circumcised and their companions are screened for Covid 19. The medical team and child companions have been vaccinated.

"All committees, the medical team, participants and companions were tested for antigen swabs first. Thank God, all were negative. After that, the children's health was checked before circumcision. After the circumcision, the children were observed and received circumcision gifts," said Basuki.

He expressed his gratitude for the role of various parties including the Director of Al Fauzan Hospital Dr. Prita Kusumaningsih, SpOG, Mandiri Amal Insani and BSMI volunteers who helped organize this activity.
