HumasUPNVJ - Chancellor of the Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University (UPNVJ) Prof. Erna Hernawati, Ak, CPMA, CA inaugurated the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS Task Force) for the 2022-2024 period, on Tuesday (10/18/22) at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, Pondok Labu UPNVJ Campus.

“Finally UPNVJ has a PPKS Task Force. This task force is a mandate from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. The Minister is very concerned about cases of sexual violence. This task is not only the task of the task force team but our task together in the future. Hopefully the socialization will be even more intense so that there are no more cases of sexual harassment in our environment," said the Chancellor in his remarks after inaugurating the PPKS Task Force.

On this occasion, the Chancellor also expressed his concern based on cases of violence released by the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) in the 2022 Annual Records (CATAHU). According to these data, throughout 2021 there were 338,496 cases of gender-based violence.

Meanwhile, a survey conducted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology in 2020 of 79 campuses in 29 cities found that 63 percent of cases of sexual violence went unreported, solely to maintain the good name of the campus.

“I hope this troubling number can be a lesson. The formation of this Task Force is our effort that cases of sexual harassment cannot be tolerated because the increase in sexual violence that occurs in the tertiary institution can reduce and reduce the quality of tertiary institutions, "said Prof. Erna.

The inauguration of the PPKS Task Force was attended by representatives of university leaders, heads of bureaus, representatives of faculty leaders, and representatives of UPNVJ institutional leaders. In addition, representatives from the Cinere Police and Cilandak Police, Cinere District and Cilandak District, Cinere Health Center and Cilandak Health Center, and Koramil 07 Limo witnessed the formation of the UPNVJ PPKS Task Force.
