Strengthening Sustainable Development Goals, FISIP UPNVJ Holds an International Seminar Titled ASEAN Collaboration

HumasUPNVJ - Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Jakarta "Veteran" Development University (UPNVJ) held an International Seminar with the theme " Establish Strong Collaboration to Support Sustainable Development Goals in ASEAN " Hybrid on Monday, May 29 2023.

"We are happy FISIP. The arrival of special guests from the Philippines directly to the State Defense Campus. We can get a perspective on the concept of development communication that has taken root at the University of the Philippines and the University of IPB," said Dr. S. Bekti Istiyanto at the opening ceremony.

Bekti said that the importance of this seminar was as an effort to find breakthroughs and joint innovation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in ASEAN.

"We (Indonesia) must strive to encourage synergy and cooperation towards this goal. Young people must be innovators and problem solvers ! Young people, of course, including all of you here. The students have great enthusiasm supported by the privilege of being born in an era of advanced technological devices that is far different from before," said Bekti.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) launched in 2015 are goals that can be used as a reference for member countries of the United Nations (UN) in their respective policy formations and political agendas. Covering a wider discussion than the previous goal framework, namely the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), SDGs have 17 agendas and 169 targets.

The agenda includes poverty alleviation, hunger eradication, health and welfare guarantees, quality education, gender equality, provision of clean water and proper sanitation, promotion of economic growth and decent work, peace, justice and strong institutions, to strengthening cooperation in achieving goals.

Furthermore, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation, conveyed the importance of strengthening collaboration and cooperation between UPNVJ and outside agencies,

"UPN Jakarta has a vision of internationalization, and I hope we can get the opportunity to collaborate with the University of the Philippines and the University of the Philippines Los Banos which were presented by Prof. Flor and Prof. Benjamina," said Ria.

Participants were attended by more than 300 people on the 4th floor, Unity in Diversity Room, UPNVJ Rectorate Building and 150 people online via zoom device

The invited speaker, Prof. Dr. Alexander Gonzaler Flor (University of the Philippines). Dr. Djuara P. Lubis (IPB University), and Dr. Hartanto (UPNVJ) moderated by Dini P. Saraswat, MA (UPNVJ).

FISIP UPNVJ cooperates with the Association of Higher Education in Communication Studies (ASPIKOM), the Indonesian Development Communication Forum (FORKAPI), IPB University, Pancaila University (UP) and Pakuan University (Unpak).
