HumasUPNVJ - With the theme "Ready to Compete in the Era of Society 5.0 for Advanced Indonesia" UPN Veteran Jakarta held its 65th graduation. The graduation was attended by 1,454 graduates consisting of 196 Diploma Three graduates, 1119 Bachelor graduates, 23 Masters graduates, and 116 graduates Profession.

As a result of Covid-19 it still hasn't shown a decline, even in several places, especially in Jakarta the positive rate of Covid 19 continues to increase. So UPN Veteran Jakarta is holding its 65th graduation this time virtually (online).

The Chancellor of UPN Veterans Jakarta, Erna Hernawati, said that the graduation was held in a different atmosphere, although it was not carried out face to face, it was hoped that this would not reduce the solemnity of the event.

In her remarks, Erna explained the industrial revolution 4.0 which led to the birth of society 5.0 which was based on digital technology, encouraging people to apply the convenience of this technology in building their daily lives.

"This adaptation requires all graduates and students to master the skills needed in the 21st century as echoed by the World Economic Forum including; Critical Thinking, creativity, people management, coordinating with others, emotional intelligence, judgment and decision making, service orientation, negotiation skills, and Cognitive Flexibility, "explained Erna.

"The most important thing after this is to start preparing to be able to study independently, by utilizing all sources of information that are currently very open, armed with critical and scientific thinking methods acquired while being a student. Do lifelong learning. Don't stop learning, because when we stop learning, we stop growing and developing. Increasing competence in the scientific field must continue to be carried out so that you have competitiveness, but all of that must be followed by always maintaining a positive attitude, "he added.

What was special was that at the 65th graduation, UPN Veteran Jakarta received special remarks and remarks from Sakti Wahyu Trenggo, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia.

In his remarks, he congratulated the graduates who had successfully passed the study process at UPN Veteran Jakarta.

“I congratulate the graduates who have successfully graduated. I hope that after leaving the campus, the graduates can work and play an active role and mobilize the knowledge they have gained for the betterment of the nation and state," said Sakti.

Sakti explained that this digital era is a term introduced by the Japanese government as its vision, namely Social 5.0, this era is an era that explains the revolution of human life with the development of revolution 4.0. the concept is the use of technology by humans today while still considering the human aspect.

"Society is currently utilizing technology optimally in producing various services in the future, the development of this era's revolution is a dynamic development of a strategic environment. This development must be properly understood. With this, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia also continues to strive to improve national defense based on this strategic environment. In dealing with the complexity of threats related to national defense, the formulation of strategic policies is urgently needed," he added.

Sakti also expressed her hope that "the graduates of UPN Veteran Jakarta who graduated this year will become competent human resources, to prove that with real work. Challenges can be overcome well if you have a high sense of nationalism and patriotism. I hope UPN Veteran Jakarta can continue to produce superior and competent graduates and another thing to be proud of is that this institution which was born from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense can make proud achievements in this country while upholding the commitment and values of Defending the Country," he stressed.

Not only the usual online graduation ceremony, interestingly at the 65th graduation the committee also presented various interesting traditional dance performances, traditional folk songs and contemporary songs which were presented to increase the enthusiasm of the graduates and their parents. Not only that, the committee also gave a give away with quite interesting prizes, namely 6 smartphones and 1 laptop which were distributed to the lucky graduates. The give away is carried out by playing a lucky spin which can be seen by all graduate participants. This prize added to the euphoria and enthusiasm of the graduate participants, because this was the first time it was held in a graduation ceremony.

With the completion of the 65th graduation ceremony, this will be the history of the first online graduation held by UPN Veterans Jakarta.
