Public Relations UPNVJ - Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University (UPNVJ) in collaboration with the Fondation De L'academie De Medicine (FAM), Airbus Foundation and the Directorate of Water and Air Police conducted direct helicopter-based medical emergency training (HEMS) at the National Police's Baharkam Air Police, Pondok Cabe Airport, South Tangerang, on Thursday, September 7 2023.
This is the second HEMS training in Indonesia, having previously been held for the first time in 2019. In this training, the participants practiced evacuation using a helicopter when a medical emergency occurred.
"I, who was previously a member of the Academy of Medicine, was asked for help to organize HEMS for the first time in Indonesia. Thank God, it was implemented in 2019 and was successful," said Prof. Dr. Guritno who is a UPNVJ Hyperbaric Chamber Expert.
The successful implementation of the first HEMS initiated the implementation of the second HEMS.
"Previously, we collaborated with Pelita Air for the second training, but now we are assisted by the Water and Air Police," he added.
Prof. Guritno also said that there were much more participants in the HEMS training this time than in previous years. The number of helicopters for practice has also increased, from just one in 2019, to three this year.
"The hope is that we can hold HEMS for the third time, of course with the latest knowledge. It is hoped that we can work together with the Navy for the next HEMS," concluded Prof Guritno.
