Apart from Panda Nababan, the scientific oration also presented a response from UPNVJ Political Science Lecturer M. Prakoso Aji. He also provided his response regarding the independence of mass media in Indonesia.

In his oration, Panda Nababan enthusiastically invited UPNVJ students to work together to defend the integrity and independence of the media as guardians of democracy. He highlighted the crucial role of the media in ensuring the delivery of objective, accurate and balanced information to the public.

Panda Nababan highlighted the need for students to have a critical attitude towards existing social conditions, so that they can have good literacy. "Students must have critical reasoning regarding news exposure in the political year," said Panda Nababan.

Still in his speech, Panda Nababan appreciated UPNVJ for the initiative to organize this event. Campus, according to him, is a place where young thinkers gather. "You are the pillars of the sustainability of our democracy," exclaimed Panda Nababan.

The Dean of FISIP UPNVJ, S. Bekti Istiyanto, said that the media has a central role in democratic life, and its presence has a strong position and is necessary for society. "Media independence is the backbone of democracy, so that it does not give rise to dynastic politics," said Bekti in his speech.

Meanwhile, the responder of the scientific oration, M. Prakoso Aji, also emphasized the important role of the media in the life of a democratic country. "Mass media is an important pillar in democracy and is a watchdog on government performance," he said.
