HumasUPNVJ - Faculty of Law, Jakarta Veterans National Development University held an international conference with the theme " Law Enforcement in the Pandemic Covid-19 Era: Experience and Comparation in the Global Context," on Friday (23/4) which was conducted online.

This virtual international seminar featured keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Jimly Asshiddiqie, SH, MH and several other sources both from within and outside the country, including; Prof. Jaco Barkhuizen from the University of Limpopo, Popokwane, South Africa, Christopher Cason, BA, JD, LL.M from the University of Washington, School of Law, USA, Dr. Diani Sadiawati, SH, LL.M. Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Indonesia and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hartini Saripan as Dean of the Faculty of Law UiTM, Malaysia. While the participants were various universities in the country and abroad as well as state and non-government higher institutions.

Prof. Dr. Jimly Asshiddiqie, SH, MH in his presentation described the development and implementation of the Emergency Administrative Law system in Indonesia and hoped that in the future the government would provide a quick response in responding to challenges and regulatory needs in the midst of an emergency situation like today. On the one hand, the occurrence of an emergency like today can have an effect on the quality and integrity of democracy in Indonesia which has been degraded due to democratic practices in the Indonesian state constitution which are more or less influenced by the configuration of political parties and the national political situation. The hope is that in the future, the pattern of changes to the constitution will always prioritize the rule of law rather than being based solely on political power.

UPNVJ Faculty of Law Dean, Dr. Abdul Halim also said that this international seminar aims to provide thoughts in the field of law related to the impact of Covid-19. This activity is expected to generate ideas and innovations in the field of legal development in an effort to strengthen the Indonesian legal system in emergency situations. Besides that, this forum is also a vehicle for strengthening collaboration between the Faculty of Law and various foreign and domestic universities, including in the fields of academics, research, human resources and scientific publications (AH).
