HumasUPNVJ - The inculcation of state defense values cannot be separated from the national goals written in the preamble to the 1945 Constitution. In an effort to realize these goals, the Indonesian nation faces threats, disturbances, obstacles and challenges from within and outside the country, both in the form of military and non-military aspects , so that collective awareness and active participation of all Indonesian people are needed in exercising their rights and obligations to participate in realizing these goals through efforts to defend the state.

The state defense paradigm is developing massively so that it cannot be said to be single. As its development is still new, this condition shows active community participation in formulating state defense values, however as an academic interest the measurement of several interesting paradigms to be carried out so that the study of state defense continues to experience growth and significance in society. In line with this, Puska Bela Negara and LPPM UPN Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) are collaborating to organize a Focus Group Discussion II – Construction of the State Defense Index online. (3/1)

Anter Venus, UPNVJ Chancellor in his remarks at the beginning of the activity explained that this FGD activity was carried out with the aim that UPNVJ lecturers/students were able to get a complete picture of index users for planning and policy making, and to measure the extent to which state defense values were able to be implemented in middle of society.

This activity presented two speakers, including Wariki Sutikno, Director of Politics and Communication of Bappenas who discussed the benefits of indices for development planning and evaluation tools, explained the use of indices for policy formulation, shared Bappenas experiences in using existing indices, meta data of index implementers. must be managed and shared , an overview of budget management and needs, and Anton Prajasto, former Director of Demos Coordinator for Compiling the Press Freedom Index who explained the concepts and basics of compiling an index, explaining the principles and basis for compiling an index, the role of enumerators and informants expert, what is expert judgment , the difference with an index based on perception, the need for data-fact-information, scoring and assessment models.
