Spirit of Transformation and Achievement at UPNVJ's 46th Anniversary

Public Relations UPNVJ - Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University commemorates its 46th anniversary or Dies Natalis on Thursday, November 30 2023. Since it was first established in 1977, UPNVJ has transformed into a large and respected university, both at home and abroad.

Speaking at the 46th Anniversary commemoration ceremony, UPNVJ Chancellor Dr. Anter Venus, MA.Comm said that UPNVJ has undergone a major transformation since changing its status to a state university in 2014.

This transformation generally covers ten areas of development, namely organizational-institutional, learning, research and community service, prestigious student programs, educational facilities, welfare of students, lecturers and staff, human resources, aspects of institutional identity (including national defense, culture organization and branding), cooperation and entrepreneurship, and transformation for UPNVJ internationalization.

Regarding organization/institution, UPNVJ's institutional governance continues to improve. This is evidenced by the increase in UPNVJ's SAKIP (Government Agency Performance Accountability System) score in 2023 which received an A rating, the acquisition of an Integrity Zone or ZI certificate from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the Faculty of Computer Science in 2023, the acquisition of A accreditation for the UPNVJ library in 2023, and the determination of report status. finances with the title of Fair Without Exception (WTP).

"As a higher education institution, UPNVJ also continues to strive for transformation in the field of tridharma, especially in the field of education which is experiencing very strong turbulence or disruption due to changes in advances in communication and information technology," said Venus.

This turbulence and disruption includes the presence of Chat GPT, the development of the concept of entrepreneurship-oriented universities, the MBKM policy, and the learning direction model promoted by UNESCO as stated in the book "Reimagining Our Futures Together: A New Social Contract For Education" which was published in 2021.

UNESCO's educational vision emphasizes the importance of skills and commitment to lifelong learning (lifelong learning), in addition to other important emphases, including ecological, intercultural and interdisciplinary insights of students in building relationships both with fellow humans and with the natural, social and environmental environments. its culture.

UPNVJ's Brilliant Performance

Meanwhile, within the framework of reflection on the 46th Anniversary, the UPNVJ transition process from a new PTN to a fully independent PTN is still not complete. By using Bruce Tuckman's group/organization development framework model -- Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing -- UPNVJ only completely completed the Forming or formation stage when its statute was published in 2017.

Meanwhile, Forming and Norming are not yet completely complete. "If analyzed linearly according to this concept, UPNVJ should not be able to achieve or perform," said Venus.

"But in reality, this process does not run linearly, so that in conditions that are still not completely normal/norming, our universities can still achieve achievements," he continued.

Venus said that UPNVJ was able to perform because the quality of lecturers had improved over the last five years, as well as learning facilities and infrastructure which had continuously improved.

Apart from that, UPNVJ student input is also very high quality, where the average score of Social and Science and Technology students entering UPNVJ in 2023 is in the top 10 nationally, with the one at number 1 being the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

As the quality of the university and its entire academic community continues to improve, UPNVJ is totally committed to carrying out transformation in various fields.

There are eight points that are currently the focus of improvement and development at UPNVJ, namely increasing the accreditation of study programs; increase in the number of journals; research and community service grants; ranking of SINTA national institutions and publications; program to improve the quality and quantity of lecturers; MBKM and Actualization of National Defense; increasing student capacity and achievement; and institutional governance.

Finally, Venus hopes that UPNVJ can "continue to transform into a respected scientific institution and contribute to the development of science and technology."

"And hopefully UPNVJ can continue to educate the nation's generation who are competent, ethical and have the character to defend the country," he concluded.
