UPNVJ Choir Wins Gold Medal at Penabur International Choir Festival 2024

Public Relations of UPNVJ - Proud news has again come from students of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) who are members of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Gita Advayatva Student Choir (PSMGA).

PSMGA successfully won a gold medal in a prestigious international event, namely the Penabur International Choir Festival (PICF) 2024 in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta on September 9-14, 2024. In this event, PSMGA competed with 120 teams from various institutions.

Dr. Firlia Ayu Arini as the PSMGA Supervisor said that after practicing routinely for approximately four weeks, PSMGA succeeded in achieving Third Place Category Winner & Gold Medal Level 1 with a score of 82.41 in the Mixed Youth Choir Level B category and Gold Medal Level 1 with a score of 83.65 in the Music of Religion category.

"I think this is very good progress. In two consecutive years participating in international events and achieving gold medals, hopefully PSMGA will continue to improve its achievements and can continue to excel in both national and international competitions," said Firlia.

He also hopes that PSMGA can continue to grow and maintain solidarity.

"Hopefully this year the number of active members will continue to increase and become more solid so that the potential to win the championship is greater," said Firlia.

The process of winning the gold medal was not easy. There were several obstacles that Firlia and her team faced, especially in terms of the number of members, where some competitions require a lot of personnel.

"The obstacle so far is that the number of members who can participate in the competition is less than 50 people and those who are committed to training in preparation for the championship are a maximum of 35 to 40 people," said Firlia.

"Hopefully with PSMGA's achievements, more new students can join and next year not only achieve a gold medal and 3rd place but can be even better," he continued.

"We would also like to thank the UPNVJ leadership for their support in participating in the competition, as well as the professional coaches who directed the performance with excellent song arrangements," concluded Firlia.
