UPNVJ Lecturers Participate in Asia-Europe Institute Writers Workshop at Universiti Malaya


Public Relations of UPNVJ - Academician of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara attended the Writers Workshop at the Asia-Europe Institute (AEI), Universiti Malaya, which took place on 14-15 October 2024.

The workshop titled "Digitalization and Climate Resilience: Towards Strengthening the Sustainable Development Ecosystem in Southeast Asia" aims to integrate critical thinking and scientific contributions from various academics and practitioners in Asia and Europe to strengthen the sustainable development ecosystem in the Southeast Asia region.

This workshop is the 3rd series of the International Book Chapter Writing series initiated by University Malaya and UPNVJ, chaired by Distinguished Prof. Dato Dr. Rajah Rasiah (Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Institute, University Malaya), which is designed to develop a comprehensive book highlighting the role of digitalization in enhancing resilience to climate change. This event provides an opportunity for experts from various countries to share insights, discuss, and collaborate in generating innovative and practical solutions to global environmental challenges.

This workshop is the 3rd series of the International Book Chapter Writing series initiated by University Malaya and UPN Veteran Jakarta, chaired by Distinguished Prof. Dato Dr. Rajah Rasiah (Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Institute, University Malaya), which is designed to develop a comprehensive book that highlights the role of digitalization in increasing resilience to climate change. This event provides an opportunity for experts from various countries to share insights, discuss, and collaborate in producing innovative and practical solutions to global environmental challenges.

Participants attending the discussion were 11 researchers from 11 countries in Southeast Asia, namely:
1. Brunei – Prof. Dr. Ahmed Osumanu Haruna
2. Cambodia - Kim Kum
3. Indonesia - Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara
4. Lao PDR – Dr. Vanxay Sayavong
5. Malaysia – Dr. Sonia Kumari
6. Myanmar - Naw Shareen
7. Philippines – Dr. Peter Sy
8. Singapore – Dr. Gopi Krishnan
9. Thailand – Dr. Teerawat Charoenrat
10. Timor Leste – Dr. Apolinario Magno
11. Vietnam – Dr. Thuy Van Nguyen

Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara as one of the speakers representing Indonesia, discussed Indonesia's contribution to the issue of digitalization and climate resilience. The discussion took place involving international discussants to broaden perspectives. Presentation sessions were also presented from Myanmar, the Philippines, and Singapore, with Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara as the discussant for the presentation from Singapore.

"This cross-country collaboration is an important step in uniting various views to face increasingly complex environmental challenges," said Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara, who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UPNVJ.

"I am honored to be able to represent Indonesia in efforts to create an integrated sustainable ecosystem through a digitalization-based and climate resilience approach," continued the researcher from the Center for Sustainable and Strategic Development Studies.

This workshop aims to strengthen the relationship between UPNVJ and Universiti Malaya and support the development of innovative sustainable solutions for the Southeast Asian region.
