Scholarship for Studying in Germany, UPNVJ Explores Collaboration with DAAD, an Independent Organization of German Higher Education Institutions

Public Relations of UPNVJ – As we may know it, UPNVJ is currently making several efforts to gain opportunities for cooperation, especially international cooperation. The enthusiasm of Indonesian student to get an education abroad has also increased, for this reason UPNVJ is exploring cooperation with DAAD or the German Academic Exchange as an organization that can support the mobility of international students who wish to continue their studies in Germany.

The meeting between Rector and DAAD representatives was conducted online and attended by faculty deans and heads of UPNVJ bureau, on Friday (03/07/20).

In his remarks, UPNVJ Rector, Erna Hernawati advised that the heads of faculties and bureau could take advantage of this great opportunities, because this opportunity was not only favourable for students, but also could be beneficial for lecturers to be able to gain an international experiences.

"DAAD is a bridge to get scholarships in Germany. I hope we can take advantage of the existing collaboration opportunities, especially for area which more practicums are being appended. Even undergraduate programs have many opportunities, one of the best lecturers is expected to gain international experience, "said the Rector.

On this occasion, Muji Rahayu as a representative of DAAD explained several programs offered by DAAD, including:

1) Research stays for university academics and scientist (Postdoctoral)

2) Study visit

3) Research Grants-one Year Grants

4)  Re-invitation Program

Moreover, DAAD also offers a guest lecturer visit program which is divided into two programs, there are temporary visit or long-term for up to 5 years, campus management program with short-term training intended for employee that working in the management sector, or campus staff who have 2 years experiences in management. In addition there is also a program called International Deans Course SEA, a training course for aiming at new lecturers to get training with a period of 2 years in Germany.

In this session Muji also explained about what is the right program would be if the UPNVJ collaboration with DAAD could be established later. Muji also explained what steps UPNVJ could do to collaborate with universities in Germany.

The discussion happened to be two-ways and running very smoothly, where the deans had several (draft) programs which, if the collaboration had been established, could be facilitated by DAAD. With this initial assessment, it is hoped that the opportunities can be utilized to the maximum extent to improve the quality of learning and gaining an international experiences.
