HumasUPNVJ - UPN Veteran Jakarta students continue to make achievements even though they are still in a pandemic like this. It can be seen from the spirit of one of the UPNVJ Faculty of Social and Political Sciences International Relations Study Program students class of 2020, Naomi Niken Agustina Butar-Butar, managed to get quite a proud achievement at the national level by winning an award as " Honorable Mention " (3rd Place) in the Moestopo MUN 2021 event which was held by the Student Association of International Relations Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Prof. Dr. Moestopo (Beragama) as a delegation representing Germany as the host country in UNHCR ( United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees ) or "UN Commissioner for Refugees", discussing issues related to the council's theme, " Countering Toxic Narrative About Refugees in Host Country ", where the implementation will be carried out online on 6 - 7 April 2021.

To dig deeper into the activities that Naomi participated in, UPNVJ Public Relations conducted an online interview with her . In the interview, Naomi told about the beginning of her journey to participate in this prestigious activity. “In the beginning, I was involved in an activity, namely the ICC. ICC is one of the work programs of the International Relations Student Association (HIMAHI UPNVJ) from the Youth Development division. This activity aims to connect HI students, including new students, to International Relations students who have made many achievements. The ICC itself is divided into 2 divisions or focuses: Public Speaking and Academic Writing . I chose Public Speaking as my focus and studied and practiced together with UPNVJ HI senior students who made achievements in debates , MUN , and speeches . The UKM that I participated in was the Veteran Conference or ''Vetcon'' as a platform to develop speech and conference skills . Since November 2020, I have joined as a MUN member of vetcon 6.0 and have been trained by senior vetcon in developing my MUN skills . Naomi's story to PR.

Naomi also revealed that the reason she took part in this activity was none other than to make her alma mater and faculty proud, “I am motivated to be able to make UPNVJ and my faculty and department proud. My dream to make the name of the institution where I studied has been around for a very long time. However, this has only been realized since I was studying at UPN Veteran Jakarta. With the guidance of the ICC and the UKM Veteran Conference that I participated in, I managed to win 2 awards from 4 Model United Nations ( MUN ), previously I also won the Hope prize in the Global Millennial MUN 4.0 (international level) competition organized by the startup Global Millenial Group , and Moestopo This MUN , is my 4th MUN . MUN itself is a UN Debate Simulation where each participant as a delegate represents the stances or position of his country (determined by the committee) on global issues according to the theme in each Council . This MUN is clearly very related to my major and is a bridge for me to develop soft skills especially in the field of public speaking ”. he said

The Moestopo MUN 2021 was held online and in a general nature within a national reach which was attended by 29 delegates (participants) and attended by 18 universities and the private sector with the theme "Advancing Diplomacy Roles: In Combating The Violence and Justice for Gender Equality".

In addition, Naomi also told the PR team that this activity was actually a sudden activity, "To be honest, this competition was suddenly announced, where three days before the competition, the PR from Moestopo MUN gave an invitation letter to HIMAHI UPNVJ to participate, where there were only two slots available, and I am also willing to volunteer to be a delegate or a representative of HI UPNVJ. The country allocation, Council and Study Guide were sent by the committee via e-mail to me on April 4 and the position paper submission deadline was on the same date at 23.59 WIB, so it can be said that my preparation was very limited by time and only had two days to prepare myself. , both the substance of the material that I will debate, as well as mental readiness, but with that all makes me more and more challenged to give my best. And on the other hand, I also got a lot of fun things when participating in this activity. MUN has become my passion. Even though I just got to know and took part in several MUN competitions since October 2020. In my first MUN , namely VETAMUN 2020, I had no experience and was not even equipped at all, but I didn't feel like stopping, I always tried to set aside my time to take part in MUN online as effectively as possible. while still balancing my study time from college to Moestopo MUN as the 4th MUN that I joined, I was very excited about the very short preparation time. It was my motivation that led me to enjoy the Moestopo MUN flow and try to give my best. Because for me achievement is a bonus but experience is a very valuable thing that we have to multiply”. Describe Naomi in detail.

"My hope is that I really want to study offline, not without reason, but I want to explore my abilities to the fullest, by learning face-to-face from HI lecturers and senior students who have made many achievements at this MUN, especially since I live in Medan, and feel very lacking because there are so many questions in my mind and the knowledge I want to absorb from them. A message for other friends, UPN Veteran Jakarta is a state defense campus and one of the things we can do to defend our country is to take part in academic and non-academic competitions, both national and international levels. No matter win or lose, give the best for our campus. Studying at lectures is indeed very important, but we should not ignore the skills and experience that we can get from outside the campus as well. In this time of pandemic, we must be productive. So many opportunities in front of our eyes, don't even think about missing it. I have great hopes especially for my classmates, even though we are still quite new as students, it doesn't mean we can't get out of our comfort zone. People may say we are the Covid force, but our strong determination to excel will prove that we also have capabilities and abilities that cannot be underestimated." Close Naomi at the end of the interview.
