UPNVJ Chancellor Receives Highest Award, the Indonesian Veteran Legion Star

HumasUPNVJ - The Chancellor of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) Anter Venus received the Indonesian Veteran Legion Star award for his positive contribution to veterans and his commitment to instilling the values of struggle and National Defense in the UPNVJ campus environment.

The award was presented directly by the Chairman of the Indonesian Veteran Legion (LVRI) Lieutenant General TNI (ret.) HBL Mantiri at the award ceremony at the Pondok Labu Campus of UPNVJ on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Appreciating the Indonesian Veteran Legion Star award, Venus said that UPNVJ was born from the spirit and struggle of heroes who later became veterans. These fighters, she continued, devoted themselves to enlightening the nation's life after struggling to achieve independence.

"These fighters shifted from fighting for independence by taking up arms to becoming the founders of educational institutions, and from there UPN Veteran Jakarta was born as a form of the fighters' devotion to the nation," said Venus in her welcoming speech.

As part of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, war veterans also helped found UPNVJ, making it closely tied to LVRI.

Since the beginning of UPNVJ's establishment, the values of struggle have been embedded in this institution. Venus said that UPNVJ's task as an educational institution is to continue and inherit the values of struggle and National Defense that have been fought for by veterans.

"UPNVJ's commitment to passing on these values is very strong, not only in efforts to maintain and defend the country, but also to pass on the values of struggle to the younger generation," said Venus.

UPNVJ Work Culture

One of the real actualizations of this commitment is the implementation of the National Defense program which involves participants from various groups, both from within and outside UPNVJ.

Currently, UPNVJ is measuring the National Defense Implementation Index (IIBN) to see the extent to which the implementation of national defense values is applied by its participants. "It is important for us to ensure that the values of struggle, especially the spirit of 1945, continue to live and take root in ourselves," said Venus.

As a form of broader commitment, UPNVJ also includes the value of struggle in its work culture through the PIKIR principle, which includes Professionalism, Integrity, Struggle, Innovation, and Responsiveness. The value of struggle is one of the core values that UPNVJ holds firmly.

Venus said, UPNVJ is totally committed to continuing to maintain and implement the values that are the foundation of this nation.

"We also express our deepest gratitude for the awarding of the Star of the Legion of Veterans of the Republic of Indonesia. This award is a reminder for us to continue to involve more elements of society in a joint effort to defend, maintain, and revive the values that are the foundation of the Indonesian state," concluded Venus.
