UPNVJ Chess Student Activity Unit Successfully Holds Chess Tournament

HumasUPNVJ - Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) through the Student Activity Unit (UKM) successfully held an open Chess Tournament for the general public and non-master chess players which was held at the Faculty of Medicine Building on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

This event aims to facilitate the development of chess players' skills, expand the chess community network, and create a space for participants to compete in a sporting manner.

The enthusiasm from the community was also quite good with the number of participants reaching more than 100 people from various levels of society.

In his speech, the Chancellor expressed his appreciation for the organization of the event and his hope that this tournament can become a regular event that encourages the development of chess sports among the community.

In the process, this tournament uses the Swiss 7-round system, where each participant competes 7 times to compete with different opponents.

Participants are paired based on similar scores after each round. A win is worth 1 point, a draw 0.5 points, and a loss 0 points, with the final result determined by the total points accumulated.
